Need Some WoW Gold

Don’t you hate those guys standing around in Stormwind asking for handouts?  Ever been that guy?  If you have, don’t admit it because it’s sad.  Why beg when it’s so easy to make money on the AH?

I’ve been ruling the AH for a long time on my server.  At some point my counter broke in the statistics area of the achievement panel, so I don’t know the exact total of how much gold I’ve made over the years, but I’m sure it’s around a million gold easily.  The good news is that it’s not that hard to do and anybody with some free time can do it.

Basically, you need to provide one of a few different things on the AH to make the big money: materials, consumables or upgrade items (gems).  I’ve never been the guy to sell the materials myself.  Farming herbs and ore all day doesn’t appeal to me.  But, I have paid those guys loads of gold for their hard work.  When selling herbs or ore, there is no overhead to get started and you can start selling it right away.  I’ll save how to make gold with farming for another post.

In order to make wow gold with consumables or gems, you will need the materials.  If you aren’t willing to farm them, you will be buying them.  This cuts into your profits quite a bit, but it also frees you up to spend more time crafting and listing your items on the AH.  My favorite setup for making wow gold is a Jewelcrafter/Enchanter.  Mind you, I do not sell enchants, I only use enchanting for disenchanting things I make with Jewelcrafting.  Here’s the flow:

1. Buy a ton of Elementium Ore
2. Prospect it
3. Create up to 7 of the gems that will make you money and list them.

That’s the obvious part.  But what do you do with all the green quality gems?  For a while there, Blizzard was allowing us to vendor them for a great profit.  They’ve since nerfed this, but there is still a great solution.  What I do is hop on over to Jewelcrafting vendor and purchase a load of Jeweler’s Settings.   then I start turning these gems into Nightstone Choker, Alacite Pendant, Hessonite Band and Jasper Rings.  I will also make Carnelian Spikes if the price of Greater Celestial Essence is more than .5 x the price of Inferno Rubies.  In the process of making these items, you will get a fair number of rare quality items.  These sell surprisingly well to people leveling their toons or padding them iLvl to get into their first heroic.  I disenchant all of the green quality items I create and simply sell the enchanting mats I receive on the AH.

So, what I end up with is 3 distinct sources of revenue – gems, enchanting mats and rare rings & pendants.  The more volume of ore you prospect, the more you will make with this method.
